The Town of Galena has been named a 2025 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, marking the Town’s 37th consecutive year receiving this national recognition.
The Tree City USA designation honors communities that demonstrate a strong commitment to effective urban forest management through maintaining a tree board or department, adopting a tree care ordinance, investing in community forestry, and observing Arbor Day.
Galena’s continued recognition reflects the Town’s dedication to preserving and enhancing its tree canopy, supporting environmental sustainability, and improving the overall quality of life for residents. Trees play a vital role in promoting cleaner air, reducing stormwater runoff, and creating a more resilient and attractive community.
The Town extends its appreciation to the Parks & Tree Committee, staff, and residents whose ongoing efforts contribute to maintaining Galena’s Tree City USA status.
